Biography
A recent two-term Rutherford councilmember, 2003-2009, Maura first began serving her community as a parent volunteer for the Pierrepont School's PTA in 2000. Later, she would help to co-found Education First in 2001, a local education awareness and advocacy initiative and also became a board member of the Rutherford Education Foundation in 2002. In 2003, Maura was selected to the Board of Trustees of the Rutherford Free Library. But, Maura's service to others extends well beyond her more recent and formal activities... With a baked-in attitude and duty to serve the needy and defend the weak, Maura often describes volunteerism as something that is genuinely motivated and felt only from the heart.
Maura is married to Derek (47), and they have one daughter, Morgan (15). Maura has been a Rutherford resident since 1977. Working for The Bank of New York since 1973, Maura found it easier to commute from Station Square into downtown New York rather than living in the city. And, of course, once here - she has never left. As Maura commonly puts it, "Rutherford is the gem of Bergen County - and New Jersey's best kept secret".
Maura is currently a Vice President at The Bank of New York Mellon in New York City and also a board member of the Williams Center for the Performing Arts.
